This book is the sequel to 'Daemon' (http://www.amazon.ca/Daemon-Daniel-Suarez/dp/0525951113)
and I really enjoyed that book, so I got this one hoping for more of
the same. And while I did not get what I expected, I did get a lot
more. There are lots of reviews online about this book with discussions
about the tech and character development, but for me this is good
science-fiction. Good science-fiction takes modern issues and questions
and places them in a new context to explore them, and this book does
this VERY well. It takes relevant issues and uses a 'near-future'
setting to explore them in a great way. There is commentary on
copyright, genetic engineering, business practices, etc - and I really
do not want to spoil anything but suffice to say the storyline from the
first book carries over to the second and the characers grow. It you
enjoyed the first book at all - get this one.
Rating: Good SciFi deserves a 5/5
